Private landlords are deserting the sector in droves due to an official rent freeze in an exodus that will fuel Scotland’s housing crisis, experts have warned.

Ministers introduced a six-month rent cap as an emergency measure in October to help more than 300,000 tenants weather steep cost of living rises.
